Why we started Ashlar Energy

Running a building changes the way you look at energy. A bill is not just a number on a spreadsheet: it affects a property's margin, a business's cash flow and the time you have for everything else.

We're property people ourselves. For more than 20 years we have worked across UK property, and today we look after around 40 homes, HMOs and short-lets. That experience taught us how quickly a contract can become a distraction when you are managing several sites, move-ins and renewals at once.

Smaller landlords and local businesses are often left to navigate the energy market alone. Some receive a renewal notice in the middle of a busy week. Others find that the person they spoke to last year is no longer there. When nobody keeps an eye on the next date, a rolled-over rate can arrive before anyone has had time to compare options.

We started Ashlar Energy to offer a more useful way of working. Tell us about your business and the sites where you pay the energy bills. We will call, understand what you need and compare options from our panel of established UK suppliers. You decide whether any option is right for you.

We also believe the way a broker is paid should be clear. We receive commission from the supplier, included in the unit rate, and the exact amount will be shown in your contract documents before you sign. If something is unclear, ask us.

One contact can look across your portfolio, and we will remind you before each renewal. We cannot promise a particular price or outcome. We can promise a straightforward conversation, clear information and a process that leaves you in control.

If you are a landlord, developer, housing provider or business that pays the energy bills, register your business. It takes about two minutes, and we will call you within one working day.
